Stepping Out

When you go to criticize another for what you consider a foolish belief, think of the following: If you were born and raised with the belief you consider foolish, would you also believe it? I think you have to assume there's at least a chance you would. If you admit that there's a chance you could believe something foolish, and not realize it, then you have to admit you could be living in that ignorance right now, and you would not know it.

They say a fish is the last one to learn about water. The same can be said about people and their perceptions. The only way to see the water is to step out of it. Until we step out of the water of our perceptions, we're just fish carried by the currents.

Crashing Through

If I could abandon myself
The earth and everything in it
Would crumble
The stars would scatter before me
Heaven's gates could not stop me
Crashing through

Laugh With Them

You're weak
Because they laugh
They only see the fool in you
Give in
Don't fight back
See the fool in yourself
Stop being you
And be the others
Who laugh at your foolishness
Laugh with them
Who's left for them to laugh at

No more

No more
Guilt is gone
No-one to impress
No-one to look up to
Peace
Shame leaves
I no longer judge myself
No-one left to judge me

Where they meet

Call no-one evil.
There is no such thing.
Just ignorance and knowledge.
Where they meet is pain. Something else,
I know not what. Maybe God.

As Children

"...'Verily I say to you, if ye may not be turned and become as the children, ye may not enter into the reign of the heavens;" - Matthew 18:3 (YLT)

Jesus said unless we are as children we may not enter the kingdom of heaven. But maybe it's not that we need to become like children, but just realize that we already are. In the realization that we are just children is freedom from every sin, every weakness, every shame.

The Search

The search for truth is like an archeologist who finds what he thinks is an ancient artifact in a piece of earth. He brushes away the earth slowly and thoroughly to ensure he doesn't damage the artifact. But when he finishes, he finds that there was nothing there to begin with.

Sometimes knowing that someone else is asking the same question is more important than knowing the answer.

Silence Mocks Wisdom

To create a blog under the title of "Silence Mocks Wisdom" makes little sense - and that's part of the point. It seems to me that all of life is a paradox, and any statement is both foolish and wise. Language is wholly insufficient to communicate truths. However, I have no talent for expressing myself through any other means that I'm aware of. This blog is simply a list of my thoughts that seemed worth sharing (or perhaps just thoughts I wished to remember). Some will turn out to be utter nonsense, but perhaps a few will find people in a similar state of mind.

Spare Parts

Is there anything admired so much and given away so easily as freedom? Those who don't have it will die to get it. Those who do have it always end up parting it out and selling it like an old car. Until they need to get somewhere, they don't realize that it no longer runs. All we can do then is point out what a fine machine it was when it had this or that. We can at least rejoice in knowing that what's leftover will eventually be put to good use by someone else.

Incomplete

1000 buildings representing power, and each is spectacular in it's own way.
1000 women representing softness, and each is beautiful in her own way.
1000 servants representing meekness, and each is humbling in their own way.

What's more inspiring than new monuments?
What's stronger than new affection?
What weakens you more than a stranger humbling themselves before you?

Fog

In the middle of the fog even the best eyes cannot see into the distance and the brightest lamp only makes things more obscure.
