Sometimes knowing that someone else is asking the same question is more important than knowing the answer.

Silence Mocks Wisdom

To create a blog under the title of "Silence Mocks Wisdom" makes little sense - and that's part of the point. It seems to me that all of life is a paradox, and any statement is both foolish and wise. Language is wholly insufficient to communicate truths. However, I have no talent for expressing myself through any other means that I'm aware of. This blog is simply a list of my thoughts that seemed worth sharing (or perhaps just thoughts I wished to remember). Some will turn out to be utter nonsense, but perhaps a few will find people in a similar state of mind.

Spare Parts

Is there anything admired so much and given away so easily as freedom? Those who don't have it will die to get it. Those who do have it always end up parting it out and selling it like an old car. Until they need to get somewhere, they don't realize that it no longer runs. All we can do then is point out what a fine machine it was when it had this or that. We can at least rejoice in knowing that what's leftover will eventually be put to good use by someone else.

Incomplete

1000 buildings representing power, and each is spectacular in it's own way.

1000 women representing softness, and each is beautiful in her own way.

1000 servants representing meekness, and each is humbling in their own way.

What's more inspiring than new monuments?

What's stronger than new affection?

What weakens you more than a stranger humbling themselves before you?

Fog

In the middle of the fog even the best eyes cannot see into the distance and the brightest lamp only makes things more obscure.

Only Children

A child's innocence is it's ignorance. Innocence is easy to see in a child. When the image changes, our assumptions of innocence and ignorance change as well. But ignorance changes with circumstance, not just time. Wisdom may come with age, but age must be accompanied by knowledge. When age is not accompanied by the right circumstances and only the image changes, would we not be right to look upon them as being as innocent as a child? Unless you would prefer the alternative of looking on children as being as guilty as aged fools. Is there another option?

Nothing Outside

"because in him were the all things created, those in the heavens, and those upon the earth, those visible, and those invisible, whether thrones, whether lordships, whether principalities, whether authorities; all things through him, and for him, have been created, and himself is before all, and the all things in him have consisted." - Colossians 1:16-17 (YLT)

There is Truth in everything. If there were not Truth in it, it could not exist. Everything, from the least to the greatest, lowest to highest, was brought about by Truth - there is nothing outside of it.
